You can have modlog entries against you for communities and instances that you’ve never even interacted with, and each of these are counted as individual pieces of evidence against you. You can get modlog entries against you for communities in which you’ve strictly followed the rules, and each of these are counted as individual pieces of evidence against you. You can have modlog entries against you that don’t provide any evidence — maybe you mentioned that you were of a certain demographic that an admin/mod is bigoted against so they ban you and say you did xyz crime with actually linking to a case of you committing xyz crime. Maybe you said you held a certain opinion so a mod/admin who disagrees bans you and says you committed xyz crime when you didn’t. You can do everything right and still be judged wrong.

So I've noticed that there's a little group of accounts all with the same name, presumably the same person with alts on several instances, and they all like to upvote their own stuff from their other accounts with the same name on other instances (and from other accounts which don't have the same name but seem likely to be the same person). Here's what it looks like. (I have redacted their actual username, since I'm not sure if that is acceptable to post in a bigger and not-drama-centered community.)

I'm sure we all feel great seeing photos and videos of huge protests. This isn't accomplishing much. We need more. I don't know what that is. I just know that we need it.

We all wish it could, but it can’t. I have a favourite example. One of Picasso’s greatest works, Guernica, was made shortly after the bombing of the town of Guernica in Spain by Franco, the fascist dictator and friend of Hitler’s. Picasso read about it and created this antiwar masterpiece from the images in his head. Afterwards, we had the bombing of Dresden, Nagasaki, Hiroshima and then 9/11. So if that scale of greatness can have no effect whatsoever, we need to realise the limitations of art and music.
